The San Francisco Bay Area wasn’t spared either. Protestors shut down all traffic on the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, further stalling a 17-mile stretch of the Interstate 880 in Oakland. These incidents were all part of a planned ‘economic blockade to free Palestine’ as stated by one of the protest organizers, Rifqa Falaneh. The interruptions caused severe travel delays and other related complications.

In Chicago alone, dozens of protestors were taken into custody once officers regained control of the situation. In San Francisco, traffic resumed shortly after noon when the Californian Highway Patrol arrested several protestors, and the lanes opened up to traffic on Interstate 880 in Oakland after officers removed six protestors who had locked themselves to barrels.
