In a shocking incident that unfolded last month, a 27-year-old man has been charged in the murder of Daniel Shrewsbury, the manager of a Sonic Drive-In in San Antonio. The tragic event occurred on the night of July 7, around 9:30 PM, during a heated argument over counterfeit money.
Authorities apprehended Joshua Albert Joseph, a resident of New Orleans, on Friday morning at approximately 10 AM. He now faces murder charges in connection with Shrewsbury’s death. Joseph was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident.
According to the police report, Shrewsbury confronted Joseph and another individual when they attempted to make a purchase using fake cash. The manager, realizing the money was fraudulent, took a picture of the vehicle’s license plate. This led to a threatening exchange where Joseph allegedly warned Shrewsbury, “you’re gonna get shot.”
Shortly after the confrontation, a female suspect, later identified as Adiah Damir Roberson, exited the vehicle and fatally shot Shrewsbury before fleeing the scene. Shrewsbury was pronounced dead at the restaurant.
Friends and community members have expressed their outrage and grief over this senseless act of violence. One close friend recalled Shrewsbury’s efforts to better his life, stating, “This is not right. It’s not okay to do something like this.” The friend emphasized that individuals who handle firearms irresponsibly should face serious consequences.
A warrant for murder has been issued for Roberson, who remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the police at 210-207-4804.
This tragic incident has left many in the San Antonio community in shock, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety in public spaces and the implications of counterfeit currency transactions. As the investigation continues, residents are left hoping for justice for Shrewsbury’s family.
