Rodriguez’s journey to stardom began in the Performing Arts San Antonio program, where she initially dabbled in dancing and singing. However, everything changed when she discovered acting—it was love at first sight. “Dancing and singing just weren’t my thing,” she shared in a recent interview. “Theater was very exciting to me. It was something new.”
With a passion ignited, Rodriguez ventured into cinematic arts while in high school, gaining valuable experience behind the camera. “I’ve directed and produced and done casting,” she explained, recognizing how these experiences have shaped her understanding of the acting process. “It allows you to use different creative elements,” she added.
Lands a Major Role
Rodriguez’s big break came when she auditioned for Landman. “Initially, they were only casting one daughter for Demi and Jon’s characters,” she recounted. “But at the last minute, they decided to give their characters two daughters, so I’m the second daughter.” What a twist of fate!
After sending in a self-taped audition, she received news of her casting just two weeks later. “I booked it! It was my very first audition ever,” she exclaimed. From that moment, she knew she wanted to fully dedicate herself to the craft of acting.
Working With Legends
Having the chance to work alongside Hollywood stars must have been surreal! “It was a dream come true,” Rodriguez gushed about her co-stars. “They are incredibly kind and down to earth.” She praised Thornton and Hamm for their unmatched professionalism and the generosity they showed her throughout the filming process. There’s something magical when the stars align, and it seems they certainly did for Rodriguez!
Her character, currently referred to as “Monty’s daughter,” may not have a name yet, but that doesn’t deter her excitement. “I’m looking forward to seeing how my character is going to develop in future seasons,” she noted enthusiastically.
Staying True to San Antonio
When asked about her future, Rodriguez discussed the idea of moving to Hollywood. “I love San Antonio, but LA has lots of things going on,” she said, weighing her options. While she acknowledges the allure of the big city, she admits that she may not have to move permanently. It’s refreshing to hear that she plans to keep her roots in her beloved hometown!
