San Antonio Toasts to a Record-Breaking September in Alcohol Sales
Hey San Antonio! Gather ‘round because we have some bubbly news to share! The city has once again proven that when it comes to enjoying a drink, we simply can’t get enough. According to recent data from the State Comptroller’s Office, our vibrant city spent a whopping 67 million dollars on alcohol in September alone! That’s right, folks, a staggering $67,205,494 to be exact!
A Toast to Progress
This September was no small feat. It beat out last year’s September figures by a neat margin, which stood at $66,333,975. It seems like San Antonio knows how to have a good time, and we’re not slowing down anytime soon. After all, it’s been a strong year for alcohol sales!
Remember those challenging pandemic days? Well, since then, there’s been a steady rise in sales month after month! We even hit a high note back in March, where sales peaked at an impressive $80,840,410. Who says we don’t celebrate life’s moments? Meanwhile, January told a different tale, being the “dry” spell of the year with sales dipping to $57,252,882. But hey, that’s just the calm before the party storm!
The Big Winners
Now, let’s talk about where all this money is being spent. It’s surprising but also super cool to learn that a huge chunk of these sales doesn’t actually come from the usual bar hopping or restaurant outings. A lot of our drink purchases are happening at hotels and sporting venues! Who would’ve thought?
Among these venues, the sensational Alamodome tops the list, bringing in an astonishing $1,476,244 in liquor sales. That makes it the superstar of sales in the area! And let’s not forget our local favorites—the hotels and some delightful eating spots really pulled off some impressive numbers too. For instance, establishments like Hyatt Hotels, Marriott, and our beloved Ojos Locos are making themselves known, each snagging a spot in the top 20 for September!
Feasts & Brews
And let’s get mouth-watering for a moment! Despite the top locations mainly being luxury resorts and trendy bars, fine dining is not far behind. Places like Bohanan’s Prime Steak and Seafood raked in $248,546, Rosario’s at $239,576, and even Chama Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse with a cool $235,434 showed that our foodie culture goes hand-in-hand with drink culture. And hey, even Sugar’s Gentleman’s Club was in on the action, grossing $243,468 in September!
Looking Ahead
As we approach the holiday season, the forecast looks bright! With festive gatherings and celebrations just around the corner, we’re expecting another thrilling fourth quarter for alcohol sales. So, whether you’ll be sipping a cocktail at a luxurious resort, enjoying a draft at the Alamodome, or dining at your favorite steakhouse, there’s no doubt that San Antonio knows how to celebrate life.
So here’s to you, San Antonio—may our glasses be forever filled, and our spirits always high!
