San Antonio’s Southeast Side Welcomes Exciting New Apartment Complex Haynes Lofts!

San Antonio’s Southeast Side Set for New Apartment Development!

Hey there, San Antonio! Exciting things are happening on the Southeast Side as plans for a brand-new apartment complex are moving forward. That’s right, folks—brace yourselves for Haynes Lofts, a stunning project that aims to introduce 349 apartments right near the historic Mission San Juan and Brooks. Isn’t that something?

What’s Happening?

This week, the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission gave a big thumbs up, or a conceptual approval, to the designs for this new apartment complex. The complex will sit on vacant land located at 9501 S.E. Loop 410, and is being developed by NRP Group in collaboration with Sabot Development Ltd. and Brooks Development Authority. Yep, you heard it right—a three-way partnership that’s all about bringing new living spaces to our wonderful city!

Now, here’s the scoop: the project spans over 18.9 acres, and plans include multiple buildings that rise from three to four stories. That’s not all! The design also features amenities like a pool and even a dog park for our furry friends. Imagine lounging by the pool on a hot summer day with your pup by your side! But there’s a twist—a big chunk of this property falls within the Mission Historic District, which means it needs one final green light from the commission before everything becomes official.

Concerns from the Community

The Mission San José Neighborhood Association set up tables to gather signatures, making it clear that neighbors want to protect their beloved historic missions from overwhelming development. Now, more than ever, it’s vital to have these conversations as development plans seem to accelerate.

Brooks Development Authority Expanding

Did you know that the Brooks Development Authority has played a significant role in transforming the area? Originally focused on the 1,308-acre footprint of the former Air Force base, the authority is expanding its reach, bringing in a mix of housing, schools, parks, and even manufacturing facilities! So far, about 1,200 apartments have already been built, many of which are courtesy of NRP. But wait—there’s more! Another 1,277 apartments are on the drawing board, alongside plans for single-family rental homes and houses for sale!

In addition to Haynes Lofts, there’s also a new project popping up. NRP is set to establish a $78.2 million complex with 350 additional apartments over on Goliad Road. Looks like the Southeast Side is becoming quite the hotspot!

Community Projects Ahead

Beyond apartments, the authority is looking to transform the old Republic Golf Club into an arboretum—yes, a lush green space to enjoy nature’s beauties! They’ve purchased about 158 acres from the golf club for this purpose. Talk about a win for community beautification!

What’s Next?

So, what do you think, San Antonio? Are you excited or concerned about all these new developments? On one hand, there’s a push for more homes and amenities, but on the other, there’s a desire to keep our historic sites and community feel intact. It’s definitely a balancing act, and the coming weeks will reveal more about how Haynes Lofts and additional development plans unfold. Let’s keep the conversation going and make sure everyone has a seat at the table!

As always, stay tuned for more updates on this project and how it will shape the future of our beloved Southeast Side!
