San Antonio has recently become a hub of joy, as several local broadcasters have revealed their expected additions to their families. Among the latest to share such delightful news is investigative reporter Mariah Medina, who has confirmed that she and her partner Chris are looking forward to welcoming their first child, a baby girl, into the world.
Mariah had a rather interesting journey to discovering her pregnancy. Instead of the usual symptoms like morning sickness, it was a change in her interests that sparked her suspicions. Known for her passion for collecting bourbons and whiskeys, she found herself feeling turned off at the thought of enjoying her favorite drink one Friday evening. This prompted her to quietly order some pregnancy tests from Amazon — a decision that would soon lead to an exciting revelation.
“I went into work and took a test there, and I saw the faintest second pink line on the first test,” Mariah shared. Unsure and still wary of the results, she consulted her oldest sister to get some reassurance, who confirmed that yes, she was indeed pregnant. What an exciting moment!
Feeling like a true reporter even in her personal life, Mariah needed a second confirmation, so she picked up a digital test from H-E-B. With the results in hand, she couldn’t wait to tell Chris. While some might go for a cute or creative reveal, Mariah simply texted him while he was at work. “We were both initially a little in disbelief and so excited,” she remarked, painting a picture of the pure joy they both felt.
As Mariah excitedly anticipates this change in her life, she reflects on her upbringing and how her mother raised her and her sisters. “I often look back and remember all the sacrifices my mom made to make sure that we not only had a roof over our heads and food on the table, but the ability to pursue our passions and interests. I am just amazed that she made those things happen and always showed up,” she expressed.
Mariah admires the “super powers” that motherhood instills in a woman, as she acknowledged the love and care displayed by her older sisters towards their children. As she prepares to embark on this new chapter, she is excited to experience parenthood alongside Chris, seeing what traits their daughter may inherit from them.
In the early stages of her pregnancy, Mariah has been feeling several symptoms, the most notable being fatigue. Simple tasks like walking up stairs have turned into mini marathons, causing her to pause and catch her breath. Although she experienced some nausea earlier, her cravings seemed to shift toward late-night snacks, but luckily, those have subsided over time.
As they eagerly await the arrival of their baby girl, who is due in May 2025, Mariah and Chris are finding themselves becoming more and more excited with each passing day. “I look forward to seeing what traits, characteristics, and skills she gets from us,” Mariah said with a twinkle in her eye.
The couple’s journey into parenthood will not only be a personal adventure but also a chance for Chris, a sergeant with the San Antonio Police Department, to share his love of service and leadership at home. Together, they are looking to embrace the challenges and joys that come with raising a child.
As their announcement adds to the positive buzz around San Antonio’s broadcasting scene, it’s clear that the city is brimming with happiness as more families prepare to expand, bringing more joy and love to the community!
