Mark your calendars, folks! The much-anticipated San Antonio Beer Festival is just around the corner, and it promises to be more thrilling than ever this year. This fest, which will take place on Saturday, October 19, at Crockett Park in downtown San Antonio, invites you to explore a vast array of beverages while enjoying a festive atmosphere filled with fun and entertainment.
This year’s festival will feature tastings from over 100 breweries from around the globe. Attendees will have the chance to sample from more than 300 premium and craft beers, ales, ciders, seltzers, hop waters, and even non-alcoholic beverages. The festival supports a great cause too, as all proceeds will go to the San Antonio Food Bank, which helps combat food insecurity in the community.
Since its inception in 2005, this event has blossomed into Texas’ largest beer fest, according to Cassandra Wagner, the festival’s organizer. “Over the past 19 years, this festival’s growth is largely due to our local partners and the support of the San Antonio Food Bank,” she noted. This year, attendees can expect some exciting changes, including a vibrant lucha libre stage featuring colorful and acrobatic wrestlers!
For the first time, the festival will host a dedicated stage for lucha libre, a traditional form of Mexican wrestling celebrated for its eye-catching masks and high-flying moves. Get ready for some thrilling bouts from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.! After the matches, wrestlers will stick around to meet fans and sign autographs. It’s a fantastic addition that promises to add a unique flavor to the event!
But that’s not all! Make sure to bring your appetite because there will be plenty of food trucks and booths serving up delicious eats. Plus, you can soak up the lively atmosphere with some great live music. Attendees are encouraged to bring along lawn chairs or blankets to set up comfy spots for a leisurely day of indulgence.
Don’t miss out on the H-E-B-sponsored keg-tapping experience that allows festival-goers to taste rare specialty beers right as they are tapped. These exclusive tastings will be available at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. It’s a great way to see what amazing brews are on offer before anyone else gets a taste!
Tickets are available in various tiers, including limited VIP tickets, which grant early entry and a goodie bag filled with fun items like a festival T-shirt and tumbler. VIP access starts at noon, and general admission opens at 2 p.m.. The festivities will continue until 6:30 p.m., so plenty of time to explore and enjoy!
Prices range from $45 to $110, so there’s an option for everyone. The VIP zone will include not only specialty beers from Real Ale but also catered food from Lucy Cooper’s Texas Ice House. What a treat!
So, whether you’re a craft beer aficionado or just looking for a fun day out with friends, the San Antonio Beer Festival will have something for everyone. It’s a day dedicated to great brews, delicious food, and unforgettable entertainment. Join in the fun and support a noble cause while you’re at it! What more could you ask for?
