San Antonio Chef Achieves National Recognition with Traditional Regional Dishes

San Antonio Chef Joins National Cooking Show Final

A local chef from San Antonio, Jon Hinojosa, has clinched a spot in the final round of the nationally acclaimed PBS’ cooking show, The Great American Recipe. Representing Mexican cuisine, Hinojosa competes against two other home cooks in the Season 3 finale aired on August 12, 2024.

The final triad of home cooks include Hinojosa from San Antonio, Adjo Honsou from St. Louis, Missouri, and Marcella DiChiara from Franklin, Massachusetts. Hinojosa ventures into this grand challenge carrying the flavors of Mexican cuisine he’s known all along.

Chef Hinojosa’s Journey in the Spotlight

Aside from being a tremendous home chef, Hinojosa is popularly known as the founding director of Say Sí, an arts nonprofit that expands creative opportunities for marginalized communities in his locality. A native of El Paso, the MasterChef has been reflecting both his San Antonio roots and El Paso origin throughout the competition. His signature Mexican cuisine dishes like al pastor tacos, El Paso-style chile rellenos, and abuelita food have already mesmerized taste buds on the national platform.
