Residents gather for the San Antonio cleanup event to dispose of hazardous waste safely.
San Antonio residents can participate in a free household hazardous waste drop-off event this Saturday at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Hosted by the Solid Waste Management Department, this initiative aims to help locals dispose of hazardous items safely from 8 a.m. to noon. Eligible residents can bring a wide variety of items including old paints, batteries, and e-waste, but items like household garbage and ammunition will not be accepted. Valid ID and proof of an environmental fee payment are required for participation.
Hey, San Antonio! If you’ve been hoarding some old paint cans or maybe a broken TV in your garage, you’re in for a treat! This Saturday, the Solid Waste Management Department is rolling out the red carpet for residents during their free household hazardous waste drop-off event at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Say goodbye to clutter from 8 a.m. to noon at 5757 U.S. 90!
This event is part of the department’s regular schedule, offering a chance to dispose of those pesky hazardous items safely. If you live in San Antonio and have your trash picked up by the Solid Waste Management, you’re ✅ eligible to participate!
Wondering what you can bring? Well, you hit the jackpot! You can bring a wide range of items that usually cause a headache when it comes to disposal:
Now granted, not everything can come to the party. Here’s what’s not accepted at the drop-off event:
Got your items ready? Don’t forget your valid picture ID and a copy of a recent CPS Energy invoice that shows payment of the environmental fee when you head over! And here’s a quick tip: keep all materials in their original containers, or if they are leaking, put them into a leakproof or lined cardboard box. Mixing different materials? That’s a no-go!
If you have liquids to drop off, here are the limitations to keep in mind:
If Saturday doesn’t work for you, don’t fret! There are other options available. The permanent household hazardous waste drop-off center is at 7030 Culebra Road and is open Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Plus, from March to September, there’s a monthly drop-off option at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway on the first Friday and Saturday of each month.
If you miss Saturday, mark your calendar for another drop-off event on May 17, happening at the Rigsby Bulky Waste Collection Center, located at 2755 Rigsby Avenue.
So, there you have it! An easy and safe way to dispose of those bothersome household hazardous items. Gather what you need to get rid of, and we’ll see you at Nelson Wolff Stadium for a great day of decluttering! 🧹
