Cooling Off: San Antonio Enjoys a Much-Needed Cold Front Amidst Rising Temperatures

Cooling Off: San Antonio Welcomes a Refreshing Cold Front

San Antonio, we had quite a hot week, didn’t we? If you can believe it, we kicked off the week with *scorching temperatures* that topped out at an uncomfortable 96 degrees on Tuesday. Not to be outdone, Wednesday brought us a sizzling 99 degrees, making us all question our sanity for living in Texas! But, hold on to your hats, because a sweet *cold front* rolled in on Thursday, bringing cooler and drier air into our wonderful region.

A Blissful Friday Morning Ahead

Friday morning promises to be a real treat for all of us. Thanks to this new cold front, we’re in for a refreshing change, with *morning lows expected to dip to around 62-64 degrees* here in the San Antonio metro area. Can you believe that? That’s almost 15 degrees cooler than what we were waking up to just a few days ago! And if you’re planning to head towards the Hill Country, get ready for even cooler temps between 56-58 degrees in places like Boerne, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg. You might actually want to grab a light jacket before stepping outside!

Warm Up Quickly!

But don’t get too cozy! As beautiful as those cool temperatures are, they won’t last long. Through the morning and into the afternoon, things will heat up rapidly! By 9 a.m., we can expect to see the thermometer reaching 70 degrees, and just after 10 a.m., we’ll be topping 80 degrees in no time. With those *sunny skies* and *dry air* lingering, we might see afternoon highs soaring into the low to mid-90s. That’s a jaw-dropping *30-degree temperature increase* from those early morning lows!

While it may sound overwhelming, at least we can take comfort in the fact that it will be a dry heat. With dew points hanging out in the low 50s, the heat won’t feel as intense, perhaps a degree or two lower than what the thermometer says.

Evenings to Savor

As the sun sets, Friday evening will bring some relief as temperatures dip back into the comfortable 70s after 8 p.m. Get ready for another cool night with lows settling into the 60s again, aiming for around 65 degrees on Saturday morning. It’s a lovely little routine we have here with the temperature changes!

Weekend Weather Outlook

This weekend looks like a sunny delight! After that refreshing start on Saturday, our daytime temperatures are expected to reach about 94 degrees in San Antonio. Sunday might be a tad warmer, pushing up to around 95 degrees, which is 8 degrees above the average for late September. But don’t worry about rain; it seems like we can leave the umbrellas at home, as there is no rain in the forecast for South Texas.

What Lies Ahead

And just when you thought we might get a break from the heat, uncharacteristically hot weather is likely to stick around well into next week. With high atmospheric pressure hovering over the southern Plains, we can anticipate mid-90s temperatures sticking around until at least Wednesday. Luckily, nighttime lows should remain quite comfortable, sitting in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

The Climate Prediction Center hints at continued above-average temperatures even as we make our way into the first week of October. In fact, San Antonio has an 87% chance of near-average to above-average temperatures during October 4-10.

Enjoying the Fall Warmth

So, as we soak in this gorgeous weather, make plans to enjoy the sunshine and bright skies while they last! The warm temperatures could hang around a little longer, but that just means more opportunities to *get outside* and enjoy everything our beautiful city has to offer. Happy fall, y’all!
