This two-day event is part of UNESCO’s initiative to highlight the significance of corn, especially as it represents life for Indigenous Americans.

The festivities kick off at Pearl’s Carriqui on October 10, where Chef Jaime Gonzalez will welcome a group of UNESCO chef ambassadors to prepare creative corn-based dishes. Inspired by the University of Texas San Antonio’s cookbook collections, attendees can enjoy a culinary journey while flipping through these rare cookbooks on display. To make the evening even more special, the Brackenridge student mariachi group will provide musical entertainment. If you’re interested in joining this amazing night, tickets are available for $70 per person.

The next day, the celebrations continue during the Maiz Showcase at 303 Pearl Parkway from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. It’s a community event filled with local chefs and culinary talents from other cities, all ready to share their mouthwatering bites and drinks.
