News Summary

Easter Sunday brought a spring cold front to San Antonio, causing brief but intense thunderstorms with gusty winds and a chance of hail. The morning was cool with temperatures in the 60s, but by afternoon, the sun returned, warming temperatures to the mid-70s and potentially touching 80 degrees. Looking ahead, the week may bring more rain and storms. Stay prepared, San Antonio!

San Antonio Weather Update: Easter Sunday Storms Shake Things Up!

This Easter Sunday, San Antonio enjoyed a little bit of weather drama as a spring cold front swept through the area. Those early risers felt the shift as the cold front glided in between 5 and 8 a.m., bringing along a host of surprises. What a way to shake off the winter chill!

Thunderstorms Arrive: Brief but Intense

As the cold front made its entrance, it didn’t come alone; it brought along a line of thunderstorms eager to make their mark. These storms were anticipated to be brief yet packed a punch, with potential gusty winds reaching up to 50 mph. That’s enough to make anyone hold on tight to their hats!

For those with an eye on the sky, there was also a chance of dime-sized hail making an appearance. More notably, larger hail could even reach the size of quarters in isolated areas, though most of what fell was expected to be on the smaller side. Yikes! It’s always good to keep the car under cover during hailstorms!

Showers and a Cool Morning

After the cold front moved east of the city, the remaining showers and weaker thunderstorms lingered in the air until around 10 a.m.. The morning remained cool and comfy, with temperatures hanging in the 60s. Not a terrible way to start a Sunday, especially if you enjoy cooler weather!

Once the clock hit 11 a.m., chances of rain took a nosedive, dropping to less than 20%. Ladies and gentlemen, the sun was preparing to make its grand return for the afternoon!

Sunshine Returns: A Warm Afternoon Awaits

By early to mid-afternoon, San Antonio transitioned into a much drier and brighter setting. Temperatures were expected to climb to the mid-70s by around 2 p.m. and possibly touch 80 degrees by 4 p.m.. With a gentle north wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph, it sounded like the perfect opportunity to break out that comfortable outdoor chair!

Rain and Cool Nights: What’s Next?

On Sunday morning, rainfall totals reached between 1 to 2 inches. So, those flowers will surely be grateful! Sunday night, cooler temps were forecasted to drop into the range of upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Pretty cozy for the evening, right?

What’s Cooking for Monday?

Looking ahead, Monday promised to bring a much warmer day, with temperatures expected to soar around 80 degrees by noon, creeping into the upper 80s and flirting with the 90-degree mark come late afternoon. With rain chances almost at a big fat zero, it was time for everyone to enjoy some sun!

Tracking the Week Ahead: Stormy Forecast

Don’t get too comfortable just yet! From Tuesday through Thursday, rain chances were predicted to range between a steady 40% to 60%. Looks like we are in for a week filled with potential thunderstorms! Keep those umbrellas handy, folks!

Daily storm activity might roll through, complete with the chance for large hail and some powerful winds. While some might not appreciate the unwelcome surprises, it’s essential to remain vigilant and prepared. The atmosphere continues to show signs of being relatively unstable, raising some eyebrows for possible severe weather, though a complete severe weather outbreak was not on the radar.

It’s a Wild Weather Week!

So, buckle up, San Antonio! This upcoming week looks to be a mix of sunshine and wild weather, with daily storm possibilities that could keep everyone guessing. Here’s to hoping we stay safe and enjoy all that spring has to offer!
