Excitement Builds as Downtown San Antonio Roads Close for ‘1923’ Filming

Downtown San Antonio Roads Affected by Filming of ‘1923’

In downtown San Antonio, residents and visitors alike are gearing up for some temporary traffic adjustments as the much-anticipated ‘1923’ series—a prequel to ‘Yellowstone’—begins filming. Starting from September 6 and extending through September 25, various streets and sidewalks will be impacted to accommodate the production crew.

Filming Schedule and Road Closures

The filming will take place over several weeks, and here’s a breakdown of the areas that will be affected:

  • Other closures similar to September 16-18

From September 20 – 25, 2024

  • Similar closures will resume, with the first few blocks of Broadway remaining closed to traffic

Business Access and Community Impact

Despite these closures, businesses in the area will remain open and accessible, with the exception of the morning of September 19. The production team has been proactive in engaging with local stakeholders to ensure that any disruptions are minimized. Traffic plans have been communicated to ease congestion during filming hours.

A Historic Moment for San Antonio

This filming marks an exciting moment for San Antonio, as it continues to attract notable productions. The last major film to be shot in the city was the historic ‘Wings’, which occurred nearly a century ago. As ‘1923’ rolls into town, it brings not just fresh energy but also a nod to the city’s enduring connection with film history.

Residents are advised to plan their commutes accordingly and to keep an eye out for signage regarding road closures during this period. As downtown San Antonio gets ready for its Hollywood moment, it promises to be an exciting time for both locals and film enthusiasts alike!
