San Antonio Celebrates Culinary Traditions and Welcomes New Eateries Amid Changing Food Scene

San Antonio’s Flavorful Week: Celebrations and New Openings

San Antonio is buzzing with excitement this week! From festive celebrations to delicious new restaurants, the local food scene is truly vibrant. Just this past Saturday, December 14, 2019, the lively streets of Historic Market Square were filled with the rich aromas of tamales as San Antonians came out to celebrate the beloved tradition of La Gran Tamalada.

La Gran Tamalada: A Taste of Tradition

Hosted by La Familia Cortez Restaurants, La Gran Tamalada is one of the largest tamalada events in the city. Over two delightful days, the event welcomed visitors to immerse themselves in all things tamale. There were tamale-making workshops, where families and friends learned to prepare these delicious delicacies, along with fun crafts for the kiddos to keep them entertained.

But it wasn’t just about the hands-on fun! Attendees enjoyed live performances that brought the holiday spirit to life, while the holiday market offered an array of local goods perfect for unique gift-giving. The best part? This remarkable event was absolutely free to attend, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It’s safe to say that La Gran Tamalada was a hit!
