San Antonio Gas Prices See a Notable Drop!

Hey there, San Antonio! It looks like you’ve got a bit of good news at the pumps this week as gasoline prices took a dive! That’s right, in just one week, the average price of gas in our vibrant city dropped by a whopping 15 cents. As of February 3, 2025, the average price now stands at an appealing $2.54 per gallon.

Comparing the Numbers

If you read the headlines last month, you might remember gas prices were a tad higher. Fast forward to today, and you’ll see they have decreased by 9.6 cents compared to a month ago! Talk about a nice little gift for your wallet. But hold on, it gets better! Looking back a year, we’re seeing prices that are 36.5 cents lower on average than this same time last year. That’s certainly something to smile about while driving around town.

Finding the Best Deals

If you’re eager to save even more, check out Amigos Food Mart located on S. Zarzamora St., where gas is priced at a jaw-dropping $2.09 per gallon. Now, we’re talking savings! On the flip side, if you just happen to fill up at the most expensive gas station in San Antonio, you might be shelling out $2.99 per gallon. Ouch! Always good to know where the best deals are!

A Bigger Picture

This drop in prices isn’t just happening in our city. Across Texas, the statewide average for gasoline remains stable at $2.74 per gallon, which is also down by about 8 cents from this time last year. It’s clear that Texans are finding some relief at the gas pumps.

Nationally, the average for regular unleaded gas has dropped to $3.04 per gallon, showing a decrease of 3.5 cents this week. Even if you look beyond Texas, you can see trends of changing prices across the nation.

What’s Behind the Changes?

So, what’s causing these price fluctuations? Analysts have pointed to recent increases in gasoline supply along the Gulf Coast region, which are reported to be at their highest levels since June 2020. The factors at play include winter weather that unfortunately resulted in not being able to export 231,000 barrels. Additionally, crude oil prices took a little hit, dropping by about $1.50 per barrel compared to last week.

Gazing into the future, it seems that fuel prices may continue to see some ups and downs as supply and demand remain in constant negotiation. Interestingly, earlier oil price increases were driven by higher demand from China as well as ongoing U.S. sanctions against Russia and Iran.

Local and Regional Trends

$2.89 per gallon, while Laredo is enjoying the lowest at around $2.61 per gallon. Overall, Texas tends to boast some of the lowest gas prices in the U.S., and it’s helpful for our wallets during tough economic times.

So there you have it! Whether you’re making a quick trip across town or planning a weekend getaway, the lower gas prices should definitely put a smile on your face as you hit the road. Drive safely and remember to keep an eye out for those deals!
