The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio’s Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus Graduate programs at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio’s School of Nursing and School of Health Professions have achieved new national rankings, as announced by U.S. News & World Report’s list of best graduate schools for 2025.
The School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program is ranked No. 54 out of 157 qualifying schools. This achievement marks a 15-spot increase from last year, positioning the program in the top 35% nationally. School of Nursing Dean Sonya R. Hardin, PhD, RN, APRN, FAAN, expressed pride in the program’s efforts to integrate clinical experiences with community partners, providing students with a quality education tailored to South Texas residents.
The school also holds a strong position in the Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs category, tied at No. 31 out of 656 programs, ranking in the top 5% of undergraduate nursing programs.
The School of Health Professions at San Antonio University has also seen success, with its Doctor of Occupational Therapy program ranking 41st and its Doctor of Physical Therapy program ranking 106th nationally. Additionally, the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program debuted at No. 136 out of 280 programs in its first year of eligibility for the rankings.
Dean of the School of Health Professions, David Shelledy, PhD, RRT, RPFT, FAARC, FASAHP, commended the programs for their national recognition, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to providing stellar training and education to students.
In 2023, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at San Antonio University was ranked 40th out of 211 qualifying programs, placing it in the top 19% of those assessed. Acting President Robert Hromas, MD, FACP, lauded the institution’s renowned programs for their dedication to preparing healthcare professionals to serve the San Antonio community and beyond.
