SAN ANTONIO: After an enduring year of disagreement between a dissatisfied homeowner and the foundation repairman he hired, a compromise has at last been reached. Notably, the man in question, Jerry Hruby, feels less aggrieved today.
Jerry Hruby reported feeling “cheated” due to a crevice forming where the two segments of his double-wide mobile home should connect. A problem that’s been present for over a year. After employing the services of self-proclaimed ‘go-to guy’, Buck Medley, to tackle the issue, the situation worsened; Hruby noticed that his floor seemed tilted.
Communication between the parties became hostile, impeding repair efforts for months. Despite a term in the contract stating that a revision would take place six months post-initial work if required, Medley was unresponsive to Hruby’s requests.
On reaching out to “Buck,” it was revealed that the cause of the delay was attributed to the land beneath the home. According to Medley, the soil erosion was due to the lack of adequate drainage to direct rainwater away from the foundation of the house, leading to the extra settlement of the floor peers.
After a mutual agreement was reached, Buck’s team, armed with the best apparatus in the industry, returned to relevel the home. They also highlighted other areas of concern not related to releveling that needed to be addressed by Hruby.
After months of waiting, the endeavor concluded with a perfectly leveled home and a relieved customer. However, Buck warns that if water is not redirected away from the house, the land will shift, leading to future issues. He suggested that mobile homeowners should make provisions for their homes to be releveled every 3 to 5 years. Nonetheless, this advice comes with a caveat, as he states “you’re still at the mercy of mother nature and the ground.”
