In a shocking case of animal abuse, a San Antonio resident now faces severe animal cruelty charges. Michael Moore, 57, is being charged after deputies discovered 26 dogs living in what are being described as one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they have encountered.
On June 29th, deputies informed of a suspected case of animal cruelty, reached Moore’s home at the 7800 block of Fossil Banks, following reports by Bexar County Animal Control Services. On their arrival, they were immediately confronted with an overpowering odor of urine and feces.
The conditions inside the residence were appalling, with multiple dogs found living amidst the filth. The living room floor was seen covered in animal excrement, and one dog was unfortunately discovered deceased in the kitchen.
Authorities rescued and seized a total of 26 dogs from the deplorable conditions. Once liberated, these dogs were immediately taken to a local vet for a thorough check-up. The diagnosis for most of the dogs confirmed the harsh reality they were living in. These dogs were found underweight with visibly protruding spines and ribs. Their fur was stained with urine, and feces was encrusted in their paws and nails.
Moore is now facing charges of Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals for Failing to Provide Necessary Food, Water, Care, or Shelter; Abandonment; Transporting in a Cruel Manner; Bodily Injury; or Overworking the Animal. He was taken into custody immediately and his bond was set at $2,000 by the court. Moore was released after posting bail.
This case sheds light on the grave issue of animal cruelty. It is crucial for neighbors and community members to remain vigilant and report any such instances to authorities. It is only through our collective efforts we can put an end to such blatant mistreatment of animals and ensure they live with the respect and care they deserve.
