Fiesta on French: Mardi Gras Magic Arrives in San Antonio

In the heart of the Alamo City, the spirit of Mardi Gras has taken over the Fiesta season. Fiesta on French, an exciting soirée filled with New Orleans-style jazz, Cajun food, and magnanimous carnival atmosphere, is set to bring fun and allow the locals to revel in an entirely fresh essence.

A Blend of Cultures

The streets of San Antonio will be teeming with life and dotted with a swirl of green, purple, and gold as Fiesta on French commences on Saturday, April 20th, from 6 p.m. to midnight at 415 West French Place. As a fusion of Texan tradition and creole culture, the event transports the vibrant rhythms and flavors of New Orleans right to the heart of San Antonio, instilling the city with an energetic Mardi Gras spirit during Fiesta season.

Purpose-Driven Carnival

However, this event is not only about celebrating and having fun. It also serves an important cause within the community. Fiesta on French works to raise money for local nonprofits assisting children with disabilities, hence it is a celebration doubling as a charitable event. The festive atmosphere thus carries a deeper meaning and purpose.

Dressing up for a Cause and Having a Good Time

Organizers encourage participants to don their best festive attire and come prepared to have a blast while supporting a good cause. The tantalizing sounds of live jazz will transport you to the vibrant streets of New Orleans, while a myriad of Cajun delicacies keep you fueled throughout the night.

Making a Difference while Keeping Tradition Alive

Organizer Abe Juarez expressed his sentiments about the event saying, “we started Fiesta on French for two reasons. One is to give back to our community and make a difference. And two, keep our social network going“. He emphasizes how the event involves his entire family and their network of friends who volunteer to make the event a success. He candidly states it’s “a good time, with a smile on everyone’s face, despite it being so busy you might miss some things“.

Future Perspectives

This is the third year of Fiesta on French and obviously, the future looks promisingly colorful. The Fiesta Commission will be attending the celebration this year with the intent of evaluating its potential to become an official Fiesta event in the coming year.
