Tragic Incident in San Antonio: Local Woman Arrested for Murder

San Antonio, TX – A peaceful neighborhood is shaken up after a shocking incident unfolded early Monday morning, leaving one man dead and a woman facing serious charges. Neighbors are still reeling from the tragedy as details continue to come to light.

The Incident

Local authorities have identified the suspect involved in this heartbreaking case as Anna Orourke, aged 58. She was taken into custody on a murder charge following an alarming call she made to the police around 1:30 a.m. Orourke reported that she had intentionally run over her neighbor, identified as Stephen Sanders. While the police stated Sanders was 63 years old, the Bexar County Medical Examiner has reported his age as 56.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Sanders dead near the corner of Putman and Big Meadows streets, just steps away from both women’s homes in the Vance Jackson Road neighborhood, a quiet area off Wurzbach Road.

Neighbors Weigh In

As word of the incident spread, residents were left both stunned and saddened. Brittaney Lopez, a local resident, expressed her concerns, stating, “It’s sad to say that I’m not as surprised as I should be that someone was murdered in our neighborhood right here.” The tension between Orourke and Sanders has been palpable for some time, according to several neighbors.

Lopez shared her own experience, revealing that in past months, there had been signs of conflict between the two neighbors. “In the middle of the night, we’d see Orourke shine lights or strobe lights into the house,” she recalled. She also noted Sanders’ generally peaceful demeanor, explaining, “He seemed not to bother anybody too much.” Lopez, holding her newborn baby, recounted her own run-ins with Orourke, who she claims made numerous false complaints to the police about her family, even suggesting that they were abusing their baby due to harmless crying sounds.

A History of Conflict

All these incidents point to an ongoing feud. The San Antonio Police Department’s records unveiled a troubling pattern as officers had been called to both Orourke’s and Sanders’ homes over 59 times in the previous year for various disturbances. While specific details about those calls remain confidential, many of them were categorized as “disturbance-neighbor,” illustrating the tense atmosphere that prevailed in the community.

Looking Ahead

After this dreadful act of violence, residents like Lopez are hoping for a return to peaceful living. “I just hope we can have some peace in our neighborhood again,” she stated, expressing a sentiment shared by many who want to feel safe in their homes.

The San Antonio community is now left to ponder the stark realities of what can occur when conflicts escalate beyond control. As everyone comes to terms with this recent event, it serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and looking out for one another in our communities.
