San Antonio Receives a $2 Million Boost for Classical Music Promotion

San Antonio – The Classical Music Institute, a notable nonprofit organization based in San Antonio, has recently received a momentous $2 million donation. This generous gift from the local company, Frost Bank, is set to press forward the organization’s pledge towards musical education, subsequent performances, and overall music promotion in the community. Besides the monetary donation, Frost Bank will also function as a presenting sponsor of The Orchestra San Antonio, which is a part of the Classical Music Institute.

The Classic Music Institute’s Mission

Established in 2016 as an offshoot of the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio, the Classical Music Institute vibrantly focuses on enriching Bexar County students through classical music education via fortnightly and year-round programs. The organization’s mission is to make music and musical education more accessible to everyone in the region. They achieve this through various performances, education programs, and different outreach initiatives. Their ventures also encompass building strong partnerships with local school districts and drafting a pathway for all age groups to have enhanced access to the performing arts and performances.

Frost Bank’s Record Contribution

The recent support received from Frost Bank, a $2 million gift along with sponsorship, marks the highest individual monetary contribution that the Classical Music Institute has ever received in its history.

In the words of Classical Music Institute’s CEO and President, Paul Montalvo, this constitutes a monumental leap towards achieving their mission where performance serves education. Frost Bank’s Chair and CEO, Phil Green, also voiced his pride in their sponsorship of The Orchestra San Antonio. The bank’s collaboration will ensure outstanding classical music performances and is set to alter the lives of students profoundly via the unique educational development provided by the orchestra.

This program will culminate in a concert set for late June.

Furthermore, this June, the Classical Music Institute is providing an intensive training program in collaboration with Opera San Antonio for classical solo and chamber vocal music. There’s also a teaching artist fellowship, a three-week program targeting string players, pianists, and vocalists.

More details about the Classical Music Institute’s 2024 performance season will be shared soon.
