San Antonio Celebrates Pride All June with Nine Dazzling Events

San Antonio will be offering a rainbow of experiences in celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month this June. Here are nine brilliant events taking place throughout the city to mark the occasion.

1. Queer Voices Pachanga at the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center

The month kicks off with a vibrant celebration of queerness on June 1 from 4-10 pm. This free event features a gender-affirming clothing swap, blessings from Cuir Curandera, and performances from a variety of poets, musicians, and burlesque artists.

2. “Drag Me to the Hall” at Stable Hall

On June 1, Stable Hall will host its first Pride spectacular, headlined by a star from the ever-popular RuPaul’s Drag Race. The event starts at 9 pm and promises a night of glitz and glamour, with performances from some of San Antonio’s fiercest drag artists.

3. Pride Pop Stars Candle Making Experience

Have a creative flair? Mission Crafts Chandlery is hosting a series of glittery workshops honoring iconic pop divas from June 1-15. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Thrive Youth Center.

4. “The Boys in the Band” at San Pedro Playhouse

While providing a glimpse into mid-century gay life, this classic pre-Stonewall play serves as a reminder of why the battle for equality was fought. Performances will be held from June 6-23 at the Classic Theatre of San Antonio.

5. Boerne Pride Walk

Join the community on June 8 for Pride Walk at the PHPL Amphitheatre. The event promotes visibility and inclusion in the suburbs and features educational vendor and resource booths.

6. Pride on the Eastside Festival

This joint production of Thrive Youth Center, WestCare Texas, and Black, Queer & Here takes place on June 8. The block party at the Ella Austin Community Center showcases delicious food, live music, and riveting drag performances.

7. Pride Night at the Culture Commons Gallery

The theme “Resilient and Responsive: Artists and the Environment” speaks to the diversity represented by the LGBTQ+ community. Attendees can expect performances from Latine drag kings, readings from LGBTQIA+ poets, and a printmaking workshop on June 13.

8. Pride Hike at Phil Hardberger Park

Don your hiking boots and join the Pride Hike on June 15. Take a two-hour walk through the park, join a scavenger hunt if you wish, and celebrate nature’s diversity with the community.

9. Out at the Tobin Pride Brunch

Enjoy a festive brunch featuring the first winner of Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World, Ra’Jah O’Hara on June 23. Local talents Kristi Waters, Reign Larue, and Mehgan Iman Dlux add to the dazzling line-up, and part of the proceeds will support the Thrive Youth Center.

These observations illustrate the vibrant celebrations planned for Pride Month in San Antonio. From performances to community gatherings, every event pays tribute to the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.
