San Antonio Faces Record Heat, But a Refreshing Cold Front is on the Way!

San Antonio’s Weather Take: From Record Heat to a Refreshing Cool Down!

Good day, San Antonio! If you’ve stepped outside recently, you’ve probably noticed that we’re in the thick of something that feels more like summer than fall. But don’t worry; a cold front is on its way, and it’s bringing some exciting changes to our weather forecast starting Wednesday!

Record-Breaking Heat Continues

Can you believe it? Just yesterday, our beloved city set another daily heat record! The temperature soared up to a scorching 96 degrees, which doesn’t just break the previous record of 95 degrees set way back in 1962, but also means that October so far has had steady temperatures in the low to mid-90s. In fact, over the first 14 days of this month, the average high was a blistering 94.6 degrees—wow! While mornings have been mild, with temps hovering in the mid-60s, it’s these pesky afternoon highs that have kept us on our toes.

Fall is Finally Coming!

But here’s the good news: That intense summer-like heat is about to be replaced by much more comfortable weather starting Wednesday! After this uncharacteristic heat wave, we’ll see a sudden drop in our daytime highs by about 10 to 15 degrees. This means we can expect cooler, fall-friendly temperatures that are more in line with the 30-year climate average.

Thanks to the incoming cold front, Wednesday’s highs will only reach the low 80s, with a peak at 81 degrees. It’s almost like we can breathe a sigh of relief as we trade in our sweat for a little more comfort. Plus, the arrival of this front will make Wednesday feel a bit gusty with easterly winds, added bonus!

An Eye on Fire Danger

However, as we switch gears from sweltering heat, we need to keep an eye on fire danger. With the dry air around and very little rain lately, the National Weather Service has issued alerts for high wildfire risks. It’s essential to stay cautious and be mindful, especially with the combination of parched soils and lower humidity.

Gearing Up for Changes

Looking ahead, this week is shaping up to be rather lovely! On Wednesday evening, we’ll see clear skies and cooler temps sinking as low as 59 degrees overnight. Make sure to grab a light jacket if you’re heading out. As we move closer to Thursday, with moisture from the southeast flowing into our area, it will lead to partly cloudy skies, but another dry day with more pleasant temperatures around 82 degrees.

It’s exciting to think about potential rain chances, too! By Friday, we might get to see the first bit of moisture in 20% chance of light showers after 1 p.m., with temperatures lingering around a cozy 84 degrees. It’s a significant shift that many of us have been waiting for!

A Bright Week Ahead!

So, let’s embrace this fall vibe! The sunny skies will continue, making it a perfect time for outdoor activities—perhaps a walk in the park or even a fun picnic. If you’re planning outings, keep hydrated, and don’t forget those hats and sunscreen while we still have the sun’s warm embrace!

Stay tuned for the weather updates, San Antonio, and let’s enjoy what’s sure to be a refreshing change as we welcome fall temperatures into our lives!
