San Antonio Residents on Edge Following Latest Apartment Shooting Incident

*San Antonio on High Alert After Apartment Shooting Incident*

San Antonio has seen a surge in crime reports lately, and the latest incident has left residents shaken. Just yesterday evening, in a northwest-side apartment complex, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg following a confrontation with a 42-year-old suspect. The gunfire erupted around 5:39 p.m. in the 7100 block of Snowden Road, a spot situated not far from the busy intersections of Babcock and Wurzbach.

What Went Down?

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the two men had a previous conflict that led to this violent encounter. Sgt. Luis Guzman of the SAPD emphasized that there was nothing random about the shooting, which adds a layer of concern for residents who expect a certain level of safety in their community.

The victim, fortunately, is reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical attention for his injuries. The preliminary police report reveals a dramatic altercation: the suspect allegedly flashed gang signs just before the incident escalated. After a heated argument, the suspect left the scene only to return moments later with a firearm, firing multiple shots at the victim.

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness who lived in the area gave a firsthand account of the shocking event. “I was actually sitting at my desk going over some schoolwork and writing a paper when I heard the first barrage of rounds being fired,” he said. “I looked out my window and heard the next set of rounds. To my horror, I saw the perpetrator pulling his hand back with a weapon, then I saw the victim on the other end of the vehicle, laying on the ground.”

This concerned resident didn’t think twice; he rushed out to help the victim when first responders arrived, dubbing his quick reaction as “gut instinct.” Interestingly, he mentioned that he hadn’t heard any arguing prior to the shots being fired, which makes the whole situation even more startling.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the shooting, police quickly launched a search for the suspect. Sgt. Guzman noted that the shooter “more than likely took off,” making it all the more crucial for residents to stay vigilant. As part of their investigation, authorities recovered nine shell casings at the scene, indicating that multiple shots were fired, which raises serious questions about gun safety in the area.

This incident reminds residents to keep an eye on their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity, especially given the ongoing issues of crime in urban settings. With both the suspect still on the loose and the victim recovering, many community members are hoping for a speedy resolution to the case, as well as increased community safety measures in light of recent events.

As always, the police are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. In moments like these, community vigilance and cooperation can make all the difference in keeping San Antonio a safer place to live.

Stay tuned for more updates as the SAPD continues their investigation.
