San Antonio Police Investigate Multiple Shootings as Suspect Remains at Large

In the vibrant city of San Antonio, the police are currently investigating a series of unsettling shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend. With the community still reeling from the recent violence, it seems important to keep everyone informed about what has taken place.

Shooting on the West Side

First up, early on Sunday morning around 12:45 a.m., two women fell victim to gunfire in the 3200 block of Monterrey, just off West Commerce Street. This unfortunate incident involved a 22-year-old and a 31-year-old woman. One of the victims was grazed by a bullet, while the other suffered a serious leg injury. Thankfully, both women were quickly taken to the hospital and their injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.

The details reveal a troubling twist: the shooter had been at a party but was asked to leave. Instead of walking away, this individual returned and opened fire in what appears to be a retaliatory act. As of now, police are still investigating the case, with few solid leads on the suspect’s whereabouts.

Officer-Involved Shooting

2:30 p.m., a San Antonio police officer fatally shot a man in a separate incident. This occurred in the 6500 block of Tahoka Boulevard, close to Old Highway 90 West. The victim, a 27-year-old man, reportedly threatened the officer with a machete. When the officer approached the suspect, the machete was brandished, prompting the officer to fire their weapon in response. The suspect was rushed to a hospital but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Given the nature of the incident, the officer involved will be placed on administrative leave while the case is investigated further. It’s worth noting that police had previously responded to this residence; the suspect had a history of legal troubles that included allegations of assault and theft.

Shooting Incident at Cafe Ole

1:06 a.m. on Sunday at Cafe Ole, a well-known restaurant along the River Walk. In this tragic incident, 43-year-old David Alvarado was shot in the head by a coworker identified as 20-year-old Talano Garcia. Both Alvarado and Garcia were employees at the establishment, yet the motive behind this shocking act remains unclear. Sadly, Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene, and Garcia has since been arrested and charged with murder.

Shooting on Chipping Drive

March 18 around 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Chipping Drive and Oldham Road. The victim, 40-year-old Paul Bussell, was discovered shot and later succumbed to his injuries at Brook Army Medical Center. A 19-year-old named Keylow Ken Kimenker has been arrested and charged with murder. Witnesses reported two individuals fleeing the scene, but Kimenker was identified as the one who fired shots during a dispute involving Bussell’s van. He was previously out on bond for an earlier charge and should not have possessed a firearm.
