San Antonio has seen a couple of unsettling incidents recently, as two victims fell prey to gun violence during separate confrontations. Early Monday morning, just before 12:30 a.m., the West Side of the city became the backdrop for a double shooting that has left many curious and concerned.
The drama unfolded off Historic Old Highway 90 near South San Gabriel Avenue. What initially kicked off as a fight escalated quickly when the suspect pulled out a gun. This startling turn of events resulted in a woman being shot in her hand, while a nearby man sustained injuries from bullet shrapnel to his face. It’s particularly alarming that both victims stated they did not know their assailant before this frightening incident.
As the conflict intensified, the suspect initially fled the scene during the argument, only to return later to shoot the two victims. The police have reported that the suspect drove away in a hatchback vehicle, and they are actively investigating the situation as more information comes to light.
In a separate but equally troubling event, 23-year-old Natalieann Aguirre has been arrested in connection with a suspected road rage shooting that transpired on March 24. The chaos began on the highway when Aguirre allegedly fired shots at a man in his 60s while his 2-year-old granddaughter was sitting in the back seat of their car.
The situation unfolded after what began as a routine merge onto Highway 281 northbound. The victim, reflecting on the moment, expressed regret for his actions that may have provoked Aguirre, which included honking, gesturing, and yelling. After a brief altercation that led him to slap Aguirre’s passenger side rear-view mirror, things took a dangerous turn when she pointed a gun and shot at him, causing damage to his car and scaring the little girl.
Managed to capture a picture of Aguirre and her license plate, the victim provided crucial evidence against her. During police questioning, Aguirre acknowledged the events but requested an attorney when asked about the firearm. Now, she’s facing serious charges including deadly conduct and firearm discharge.
Thankfully, no major injuries were reported from either the shooting or the crash, but the assailant’s vehicle took off from the scene. As in the previous incidents, police are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation.
San Antonio’s excitement took a sour turn at a quinceañera celebration at Villa Coronado Venue on Roosevelt Avenue. Late Saturday night, around 11:15 p.m., things turned chaotic as reports flooded in about an altercation involving party attendees and security officers. Amidst the turmoil, a security guard was assaulted, and another guard discharged a weapon into the ground—an action that led to shrapnel injuring an unsuspecting individual.
Initially, police struggled to find victims at the scene, but it would later come to light that a man had arrived at Baptist Neighborhood Hospital seeking treatment. One person was arrested for assaulting a security guard, adding another layer to this ongoing investigation.
As San Antonio deals with these distressing events, residents are left grasping for answers and hoping for safety in their community. All these incidents have stirred conversations about violence and safety on the streets.
