Activate Program by San Antonio Sports: A Holistic Approach to Wellness

In an effort to encourage an active lifestyle and overall wellness, San Antonio Sports, a local nonprofit organization, has released its Activate program. This diverse program combines physical fitness, mental wellness, and nutritious cooking demonstrations, providing a holistic approach to the health of the local community.

What is Activate?

The Activate program was designed to help individuals adopt a healthier lifestyle by incorporating regular physical activities and wholesome eating habits. Launched in Spring, the program comprises four sessions, each culminating in a 5K event. According to a recent press release by San Antonio Sports, the group is offering daily free fitness classes at nine different locations all over the city.

Physical Fitness Activities

The free daily fitness classes cater to a wide range of fitness levels and preferences, with offerings including cardio toning, step classes, BodyCombat, yoga, and Zumba. For those who prefer working out at home or are unable to attend the physical classes, the program offers a variety of virtual workouts too. These online programs include Strong Nation, CIRCL Mobility, total body conditioning, and Zumba classes.

In addition to the scheduled classes, the program also offers yoga pop-ups. These free events do not require any form of registration and are open for everyone to attend.

Mental Wellness and Nutrition

Activates holistic approach to wellness does not end at physical fitness. It also includes mental wellness sessions, providing assistance to those who wish to improve their mental health. These sessions are conducted through a collaboration with Train the Mind, an online mental performance gym.

Understanding the importance of good nutrition for overall wellness, San Antonio Sports has also partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank to offer cooking demonstrations. These demos aim to teach participants how to prepare nutritious meals that can support their physical activities and contribute to their overall health.

Progress at Your Own Pace

Participants can navigate through the Activate program at a pace that they are comfortable with. By attending classes, participating in mental wellness sessions and cooking demos, completing health screenings, and running in the 5K at the end of the session, participants can earn points. These points can be redeemed for T-shirts, gift cards, and entry into a cash prize drawing.

Ensuring a Healthier San Antonio

The Activate program, with its comprehensive approach to wellness, exemplifies San Antonio Sports’s commitment to creating a healthier community. By providing these resources to the public, the organization encourages individuals to take an active role in their own health and wellness journey, ultimately promoting well-being which extends beyond the individual and benefits the entire city.

The nonprofit’s intention is to help create an environment in San Antonio where every citizen, regardless of age or fitness level, feels encouraged and empowered to pursue a healthier lifestyle.
