San Antonio is bidding farewell to one of its beloved dining spots as Godai Sushi Bar and Restaurant announces its closure, set for Saturday, August 31. The announcement came from the restaurant’s owner, William (Goro) Pitchford, who shared the news on social media.
In his post, Pitchford expressed that this year has been particularly challenging for him, both mentally and physically, although he did not elaborate on the specific reasons for the closure. The local sushi bar, known for its variety of Japanese-style dishes, including sushi, spring rolls, and fried rice, has been a staple in the community since it opened in 2005.
Located on West Avenue, Pitchford shared his plan to eventually lease out the kitchen and restaurant space. In his farewell message, he also thanked the hardworking employees who have contributed to its success over the years. Fans of the restaurant can look forward to updates on Pitchford’s Facebook page as he navigates this transition.
For nearly two decades, Godai Sushi Bar has not only served delicious food but has also become a cherished part of the San Antonio community. Regular patrons and newcomers alike will surely feel the absence of this local gem.
