San Antonio – Alamo City’s dining scene is thriving with a deluge of culinary news this week. The city, known for its diverse food culture, will now see the opening of two new coffee shops, a new sushi spot, as well as fresh menu offerings at a well-loved Edmonton restaurant.

Two Coffee Shops Brew Their Way into the City

The suburb of Cibolo received a tasty perk-up with the grand opening of the drive-thru-based Frenchie Coffee Roasters on September 10. Coffee enthusiasts can now enjoy imaginative creations like maple pecan, toasted coconut, and spicy cayenne mochas right at their fingertips. The best part? A percentage of the proceeds will be aiding the Kanoa Rescue Foundation, an animal welfare nonprofit.

Not far behind, Qargo Coffee, a Miami-based brand, preps to make its debut in San Antonio. With a TDLR listing showing May 2025 as the expected completion of construction at 12015 Culebra Rd. #101, the city’s caffeine scene is set to get a kickstart. Apart from its promising line-up of espresso drinks, pastries, and grab-and-go breakfast fare, Qargo Coffee aims to meet the demands of San Antonio’s thriving workforce with its business-friendly atmosphere.

Endless Sushi at Alamo Ranch

Sushi lovers, rejoice! An all-you-can-eat concept, Takumi Sushi & Bar, is expected to open in the Alamo Ranch area by late summer 2025. While it shares a name with eateries across Texas, it remains to be seen if the San Antonio spot will be part of a chain.

New Additions at Frost Bank Tower

The city’s esteemed Frost Bank Tower is revving to boost its avaialble dining options as Spurs Sports & Entertainment have appointed 12 new local eateries to participate in the Culinary Residency Program. Among the newbies are confectionery The Hayden, and the sushi-based Hotaru Sushi. Meanwhile, The Hayden is also a contender in a chicken sandwich contest held by bun supplier Artesano, drumming up further excitement for fans of the food hall.

Menu Revamp at Mediterranean Restaurant Jardín

One of San Antonio’s favourite Mediterranean-inspired eateries, Jardín, located in the San Antonio Botanical Garden, is switching things up with a revamped daytime service menu. The place is now offering delightfully fresh dishes like beet salad with labneh and pistachios, and harissa shrimp cocktail. What’s more, brunch lovers can enjoy a live deejay every Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 2 pm while savouring their delectable fare.

Candy’s Old Fashioned on the Move

Lastly, San Antonio’s iconic Alamo City burger joint, Candy’s Old Fashioned is on the move. The much-loved eatery recently announced its imminent move from its longstanding downtown location to its new home at 115 Plaza De Armas #107.
