In a shocking turn of events over the past 24 hours, Jesse Turner, the lead singer of the popular regional Mexican and Tejano band Grupo Siggno, has found himself grappling with the loss of nearly $200,000 worth of music equipment and merchandise. The theft occurred from a U-Haul trailer parked in San Antonio, leaving the musician and his bandmates devastated.
Reflecting on the incident, Turner emotionally shared, “My mind just kind of went blank. And then I went into a stage of shock. I woke up sad. I fell asleep crying.” Understandably, he is still trying to come to terms with this staggering loss, especially when it feels like someone has robbed them of something that represents years of hard work and dedication.
Just two days ago, Grupo Siggno performed a lively show in Premont, Texas, where they utilized all their equipment. Shortly after the performance, Turner received the shocking call revealing that the U-Haul, packed to the brim with essential gear, had been stolen from the southeast side of the city, specifically off City Base Landing. “We’ve only had that equipment for a couple of years,” he explained, highlighting the sentimental value attached to it.
As Turner recounted the details, his voice trembled as he disclosed the monetary loss associated with the theft. “Just the merchandise alone was $14,000 worth of products,” he stated. The stolen items included beloved T-shirts, mega lights, speakers, screens, cables, and an array of other critical equipment that the band relies upon for their performances. “I want to say easily over $200,000, easily,” he lamented.
In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Turner spoke candidly about how difficult it is to come to terms with such a loss. “If you only knew how much it takes to buy this stuff. It is just so hard,” he conveyed, clearly feeling the weight of the situation. He also urged fans and followers in the area to keep an eye out and report any information that could assist the investigation. “If you have any info please contact the San Antonio police or our office at 210-941-7469,” he implored.
Despite the heart-wrenching loss, Turner is resolute in keeping a positive outlook amidst the turmoil. “It is life,” he recognized. “Life will sometimes drag us through the floor. Life can be cruel sometimes.” However, he affirmed that his passion for music and the love he shares with his fans cannot be taken away. “They cannot steal my talent,” Turner declared. “They cannot steal my drive to want to do good. They cannot steal my dream or the love I have for music.”
In a glimmer of hope, the U-Haul was reportedly found later, but it was completely emptied. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office along with the San Antonio police are actively investigating the case, and Turner remains hopeful that they will be able to recover their lost equipment.
As the band prepares for their upcoming show in Irving, Texas, scheduled for Friday, they may need to consider renting equipment to ensure the performance goes smoothly. Though their spirits may be dampened by this unfortunate incident, the band’s dedication to their craft remains unshakable.
For fans of Grupo Siggno, it’s a time to rally around their favorite band as they navigate this challenging chapter. It’s clear that the music will go on, and with the community’s support, they hope to bounce back strong.
