San Antonio’s Traffic Woes Set to Ease with Major Road Widening Project

Why the Expansion is Needed

Speaking of the future, the RMA board green-lighted $16 million toward design and right-of-way costs for expanding a 4.4-mile stretch of Abbott and Graytown roads on the far East Side, near St. Hedwig. Reinhardt further shared that they’ll be looking for funding through the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO), which helps decide how state and federal transportation funds can be allocated. “If a project is selected, AAMPO will fund 80% of the construction costs,” he explained. The remaining costs would likely come from either Bexar County or the Advanced Transportation District.
