Sponsor Our ArticlesFebruary 2025 brought dramatic temperature swings and unusual weather conditions to San Antonio residents. With 16 days above average and 11 below, the month also saw record-breaking temperatures and a lack of rainfall. Residents dealt with dry conditions and burn bans while experiencing winter’s final hiccups, including freezing drizzle. As March approaches, warmer temperatures are anticipated, signaling the end of winter and the arrival of spring. This summary encapsulates a month that kept San Antonio on its toes weather-wise.
Oh, San Antonio! February 2025 was a month of dramatic temperature swings and some rather curious weather patterns. If you were in town, you likely noticed just how much things varied from day to day. Believe it or not, the month saw a whopping 16 days above average and 11 days below average — talk about keeping us on our toes!
This February wasn’t just about fluctuating temps; it also made its mark by breaking records! Out of the 28 days we experienced, four days set new temperature records. It sounds like our winter coat was either a blessing or a nuisance depending on when you wore it! As for rainfall, February turned out to be a tad stingy. We clocked in less than the expected average of 1.74 inches—not exactly a wet February by any stretch of the imagination.
With the lack of rainfall, dry conditions took center stage, prompting local authorities to reissue burn bans. Folks, if you were thinking of lighting up that backyard grill, keep an eye on those flames! The drought conditions got serious. By the end of February, updates from the drought monitor told a tale of expanding dry spells across the region.
As February transitioned into March, predictions showed brighter weather ahead! Folks were looking at a weekend forecast that promised warm temps rising into the upper 70s and low 80s. Yay for early spring vibes! Historically, the last freeze in San Antonio tends to show up around February 24, according to a 30-year average. Yet, there are always surprises in weatherland; some years have seen freezing temperatures snagging the spotlight as late as mid-April!
For those nestled closer to the city center, winter’s icy grip may let go first, paving the way for a warmer season sooner than those in the higher elevations, such as Stone Oak and Boerne. So, keep your eyes peeled on the weather updates—after all, local forecasts suggest that the first part of March will be pretty warm and dry. Sounds like a perfect excuse to bring out that barbecue again, doesn’t it?
And there you have it! February 2025 has been quite a whirlwind of weather here in San Antonio. A little freezing, a bit of record heat, and lots of dry days in between. The end of winter does seem near, with warmer temperatures just around the corner. So, gear up for those sunny days ahead. It’s almost time to embrace the joys of spring!
