A beautiful blend of sunshine and storm clouds over the iconic San Antonio skyline.
San Antonio residents can expect a diverse weather week, with possible thunderstorms and a cool front arriving. Initially, isolated storms are expected, leading into cooler temperatures before a warm-up mid-week. From April 5 to 7, rain chances increase, with the potential for severe storms on Thursday. As the week progresses, residents will see clearing skies and rising temperatures, perfect for outdoor activities, while allergy sufferers should prepare for high pollen levels.
San Antonio is in for an exciting week ahead as the weather is set to take us on a bit of a rollercoaster ride! From possible thunderstorms to a refreshing cool front, there’s a lot to look out for as we move into April.
Today, residents will experience a small chance of isolated storms throughout the day, with a likelihood of around 20%. The higher chances of these storms are expected to occur to the north of the Alamo City. It’s always a good idea to keep an umbrella handy just in case, especially if you are out and about!
As we move into Monday afternoon, a cool front will make its grand entrance to South Central Texas. With this weather shift, Tuesday will bring much cooler temperatures. Morning lows will settle in the comfy 50s, while the afternoon will see highs in the pleasant 70s, making it a perfect day for a stroll in one of San Antonio’s beautiful parks.
Don’t put away your summer clothes just yet! By Wednesday, warm weather will be back in town, with the mercury soaring to the upper 80s. It’ll be a great day to grab an ice cream cone or chill by the pool, soaking up that Texas sun!
Looking ahead, the forecast indicates increasing rain chances from April 5 to 7, so mark your calendars. Cooler temperatures are expected during this period, with highs potentially dipping into the 60s. A low pressure system will play a crucial role in how much rain we might see, leading to heavy rainfall potential that could affect the area.
This Thursday, the weather could turn stormy in a hurry. Scattered showers and weak storms may make an appearance earlier in the day, but the real action is expected to ramp up in the afternoon. The forecast is calling for a Level 1 severe storm risk, particularly focused south and west of San Antonio. Thunderstorms could intensify late Thursday and into the night, heightening our concerns about heavy rainfall and possible urban flooding.
The San Antonio metro area is expected to see additional rainfall totals ranging from 0.5 to 1 inch, with some isolated areas potentially receiving up to 2 inches. Keep an eye out for any flood advisories as this week progresses, especially if you’re on the roads once those storms roll in.
As we move into Friday, we can look forward to some clearing conditions, with temperatures climbing back into the mid-70s by late afternoon. A dry weekend is anticipated, with Saturday’s highs expected to reach the mid-80s, followed by even warmer weather on Sunday, where we could see highs in the upper 80s, pushing close to the low 90s!
As a heads-up for allergy sufferers, the oak trees in the area are currently producing significant amounts of pollen. This can lead to increased allergy symptoms and indeed, a noticeable dusting of pollen on surfaces. Sadly, this oak season is set to continue until May, so stock up on your allergy meds!
All in all, the weather this week is bound to keep you on your toes! Whether you’re planning to enjoy the sun or prepare for storms, be sure to stay updated as conditions change in our vibrant city. Have a great week, San Antonio!
