With temperatures set to reach nearly 80°F and mild evenings ahead, residents are encouraged to enjoy the sunny days and prepare for cooler nights. The warm trend is expected to continue into the New Year, with forecasts showing above-average temperatures for early January. This year’s forecast suggests 2024 could break temperature records, indicating a warmer future for the region.
San Antonio is gearing up for an interesting weather forecast as we wrap up the year. As residents step outside this morning, they will meet a crisp temperature of 44°F alongside a notable humidity level of 96%. With a barometric pressure reading of 29.91 inches and a dew point hovering just above freezing at 43°F, visibility is fairly decent at 9 miles.
The National Weather Service has good news for the day ahead. Expect clear, sunny skies and a warm high that might just flirt with the 80°F mark. Light southwestern breezes should add a gentle touch to the afternoon, perfect for taking a stroll or enjoying some time outdoors.
As we transition from day to night, skies will begin to clear up, however, an increase in cloud cover is expected later on. The temperature is anticipated to drop to a comfortable 58°F by nightfall. For those waking up tomorrow, don’t be surprised if you encounter some patchy fog between 8 am and 9 am. But fear not, Saturday’s forecast suggests a sunny high again reaching near 80°F with light west-southwest winds moving in.
Saturday night temperatures will cool down, settling at around 49°F under mostly clear skies. Sunday continues this trend of warmth with a sunny high of 76°F, with the night bringing the temperature down to a mild 53°F.
Looking ahead to Monday, residents can expect more warmth as the forecast shows sunny conditions with a high expected around 83°F. Hold on to your hats, as winds may gust up to 25 mph. Following this warm spell, a shift will occur on Tuesday with a north wind expected to bring cooler weather, cooling down the high to about 67°F, alongside gusts of up to 20 mph.
In the evening on Tuesday, temperatures will drop to near 42°F, making it a good time to grab a cozy blanket. As we ring in New Year’s Day, sunshine will accompany a cooler high predicted near 58°F, followed by partly cloudy skies at night where temperatures will dip to around 37°F.
Looking beyond, Thursday promises mostly sunny skies with a high of 60°F. The National Blend of Models indicates that warm temps will continue dominating South Texas, with some areas reaching into the upper 70s.
It’s worth noting that 2024 is likely shaping up to be a record-breaking year for San Antonio, with predictions pointing toward an average temperature of 73.4°F—which is a staggering 3.5°F warmer than the norm. This year has already shown significant warming trends with records set at the San Antonio International Airport, including the city experiencing its fourth-warmest May and June, not to mention its hottest October and third-hottest November on record.
With a mild cold front having passed recently, residents can anticipate dry weather and no rain on the horizon. Though Friday could see peak temperatures near 80°F, Saturday is looking at lows in the 50s, which is around 10°F above normal.
