San Antonio Braces for a Return to Warm Weather as October Progresses

San Antonio Residents Prepare for a Warm Spell Ahead

San Antonio, get ready! As we gear up for the middle of October, it looks like the temperatures are preparing to turn up the heat once again. After an absolutely scorching start to the month, where the first 15 days all featured highs of at least 90 degrees, it seems we were blessed with a brief respite last week as a cold front moved through.

A Quick Look Back

Thanks to that cold front, many of us enjoyed some lovely fall weather that brought a delightful chill to the air. But it appears that the reprieve from the sweltering heat was only a short break. Weather forecasts indicate that the strong high-pressure system over the southern Plains is making its way back, bringing with it the potential for afternoon highs to rise into the low 90s once again.

Your Weekly Weather Breakdown

So, what can you expect as the week unfolds? Let’s take a closer look:

This Sunday, you can expect a comfortable start to your day with morning lows lingering in the lower to mid-60s. Temperatures will gradually climb, with the mercury not hitting the 70-degree mark until just before 10 a.m. Don’t fret too much about the afternoon heat just yet; during the day, we will see highs only reaching the mid-80s under those lovely partly sunny skies. By the evening, temps will drop back into the cozy 70s after 7 p.m., with a gentle breeze coming in from the east.

It’s the perfect setting for outdoor activities, so grab your friends or family and soak in the beautiful weather. Whether it’s a stroll at the park or a backyard barbecue, enjoy this lovely day before the heat sets in!

What’s on the Horizon?

Looking ahead to Monday, the temperatures are expected to rise further, with highs possibly peaking around 86 to 88 degrees. By Tuesday, we’ll inch even closer to those 90s, with that number hitting about 88 to 89 degrees around San Antonio.

The heat is set to peak on Wednesday and Thursday when afternoon temperatures are anticipated to climb to the upper 80s to lower 90s across South Texas. Just a heads up—this high-pressure system will also keep rain chances quite low, so if you were hoping for some rainy weather to cool things off, it looks like you might be waiting a while.

Will It Ever Cool Down?

Now, while temperatures are expected to remain above average through the weekend and into the final days of October, there is a slight chance of a weak cold front making its way to us by late Thursday or Friday. Don’t hold your breath just yet, but fingers crossed this front could drop the temps just a tad, though we are not expecting any dramatic changes.

As we look towards Halloween, while the models aren’t quite sure what that special day holds temperature-wise just yet, many of them suggest we may still be dealing with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. It’s part of the fun and adventure of life in San Antonio!

Final Thoughts

Let’s face it, it’s not entirely unheard of to experience 90-degree days extending well into November. It’s happened a couple of times since the early 2000s, so it’s good to keep your summer wardrobe handy a bit longer. So stay tuned for daily weather updates as we’re all in this together!

That’s your friendly weather update for San Antonio. Don’t forget to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather while you can, and stay hydrated too! Until next time, take care!
