In an effort to boost its clean environment drive, the city of Selma has announced a nine-day program starting from April 6 until April 14. During this period, residents will have the chance to get rid of both equal household and hazardous waste.
The cleanup event, backed by city officials, excites the community as it provides residents with a rare chance to offload excess home clutter and hazardous waste in a safe and controlled manner.
The environmental initiative will commence at Selma city hall, where general household waste can be dropped off. Residents are limited to two pickup truck loads or one trailer’s worth of garbage. It’s important to note that trailers should not exceed 16 feet long and 4 feet wide.
On April 13, between the hours of 8 am and 2 pm, residents can drop off hazardous waste materials, including chemicals and select electronics. It’s advisable to rid homes of these potentially harmful substances in a safe and responsible way, as they can pose a significant risk to health and the environment if not properly disposed of.
In an effort to streamline the cleanup event and ensure its availability for Selma residents exclusively, a current water bill or tax statement is required to participate. This is an important factor that the residents should bear in mind as they prepare for the cleanup event.
The sanitation event is scheduled to take place at the Selma City Hall, located at 9375 Corporate Drive. This location has been strategically chosen to make it easier for residents to find and bring their waste for disposal.
Residents should mark their calendars for the cleanup event, which will run from April 6-14, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., although on April 13 the event hours will change slightly to accommodate the disposal of hazardous waste. This will be from 8 am to 2 pm.
It’s worth noting that the cleanup event is absolutely free for Selma’s residents. The motive being to facilitate maximum participation and cleanliness within the city.
