San Antonio Senior Appeals For Return of Stolen Lifeline

San Antonio Senior Left Immobilized After His Electric Wheelchair Was Stolen

In an alarming incident, a disabled San Antonio senior, Kirk Green, has been left bereft of his mobility and independence following the theft of his electric wheelchair. Green, a 66-year-old diabetic and amputee, laments the loss of his motorized wheelchair, which was stolen from his daughter’s garage.

Desperate Pleas of a Stricken Senior

Green has made a desperate plea to the thieves, begging for the return of his wheelchair. He declares the stolen item as not merely a mechanism for mobility, but his “lifeline” that ensures his independence. “Please, if you can bring my wheelchair back” he implored. The loss has been particularly devastating, leaving him practically immobilized and making even the most fundamental tasks seem insurmountable.

Impact on Daily Functioning and Health

Afflicted with diabetes and forced to undergo amputation due to the disease, Green’s wheelchair is crucial for his routine activities. In the absence of his wheelchair, even scheduling his routine medical appointments appears to be an uphill struggle. “I don’t know what I’m going to do about making my doctors’ appointments. How Im going to get around, it’s everything, it’s my necessity, my livelihood, the electric wheelchair”, Green confessed.

Local Enforcement’s Response

Upon contact, detectives from the local San Antonio police department admitted that although thefts of electric wheelchairs are typically reported from grocery stores, it is rather rare that it is directly stolen from an individual. They have urged the public to ensure all doors and garages are firmly closed and locked, and to keep valuable items hidden from sight.

The Struggle for Survival

With his freedom snatched away, Green is striving to get by without his mobility aid. “To survive, to get around, with my body I can’t move around, but in my wheelchair, I can,” he shares, revealing the agony of his current predicament.

As the senior citizen navigates the trying days, the hope for the return of his wheelchair remains bright. In a time where the empathy of the community is tested, Green’s story stands as a stark reminder of the fundamental necessity of compassion.
