Shavano Park, located in San Antonio metropolitan area, is witnessing notable progression on two crucial road construction schemes. Active improvements are observable in bond-funded road projects and the expansion of Northwest Military Highway.
The city of Shavano Park has advanced into a new phase in its bond-funded road work with the completion of the first stage of construction on Cliffside Drive. Implemented by local firm D&D Contractors, this development forms part of Shavano Park’s bold $6.2 million road bond project.
Contractors appointed to execute this project gained approval on May 13 from the City Council to expand the extent of street reconstruction efforts. The city has allocated an additional sum of $115,746 to fund improvements on parts of Honey Bee, Turkey Creek, Hunters Branch and Hunters Branch South. These are the four cul-de-sacs earmarked for upgrades situated west of Northwest Military.
Besides the afore-mentioned upgrades, city officials have also reported that D&D Contractors are launching a second phase of reconstruction on Cliffside Drive. This is set to be part of the city’s broader $6.45 million road bond project.
Chris Otto, a geographic discipline leader at Colliers Engineering and Design – the engineering firm providing consultancy services on the town’s road bond project – indicated that the work involving roadways and cul-de-sacs under this project should finish substantially by late summer. With everything on schedule, the entire project is anticipated to be completed by fall.
In a separate development, contractor Dan Williams Co., assigned with the task of enhancing the infrastructure of the Northwest Military Highway, has begun the application of a layer of asphalt to the expanded roadway section. Commenced on May 19, the process entails the application of asphalt from Huebner Road northwards to Loop 1604.
Officials from the Texas Department of Transportation have confirmed that the $15.5 million Northwest Military project will be concluded by early summer.
The projects illustrate the city’s unwavering commitment to upgrading its infrastructure. By advancing road projects of this magnitude, Shavano Park continues to enhance the value of the community. Amid all the construction dust and detours, there is the promise of smoother, safer roads. Drawing attention to public opinion, your tax dollars are being put to excellent use.
