In San Antonio’s dynamic cityscape, the downtown nightspot and barbecue dining hub, Smoke Skybar, is enhancing its offerings with the opening of a new nightclub and skyline mezzanine areas. These latest additions are part of a ongoing project aimed to magnify the visitor experience, and are scheduled to be operational from this Thursday onwards.
The Smoke Skybar, located at 501 E. Crockett Street, is not a newcomer in town. Since its grand opening, it has been a focal point of San Antonio’s nightlife and dining scene. This downtown establishment has been thriving for years, and its expansion entrepreneurial ventures signify its plans to further dominate the hospitality sector.
The owner of Smoke Skybar, Adrian Martinez, revealed the project plan to MySA in an email, stating, “My plan [is] to activate the entire venue, except the rooftop, starting Thursday, May 23. Kind of surreal, three years in the making and it’s actually going to happen.” The rooftop, still in the final stages of renovation, has reportedly passed fire inspections and has been fitted with a new transformer, promising a stellar attraction when completed.
Smoke Skybar’s journey began as an anchor of St. Paul Square back in 2016, where it remained a vital element until the onset of the pandemic in 2020. With the temporary shutdown due to COVID-19 restrictions, Martinez reopened Smoke in its current downtown location in November 2020. Since then, Smoke has branched out with several other locations, including Loop 1604 and Redland Road, La Villita, and even extended its reach to Corpus Christi.
In April, Smoke Skybar unveiled a new indoor dining area as part of its continuous enhancement project to offer an unparalleled food and dining experience for its patrons. Now, the introduction of the new nightclub and mezzanine sections adds another feather in Smoke Skybar’s cap. Martinez’s long-term vision in unveiling the entire venue promises an unmatched entertaining experience for San Antonio’s locals as well as visiting guests.
Adding to the excitement, Smoke’s culinary reputation holds its own, specializing in unique barbecue cuisine. From lovers of smoky, savory goodness to the night owls seeking an appealing ambiance and entertainment, Smoke Skybar continues to cater to diverse audience.
Smoke Skybar’s decade-long presence and success reflect the stable growth and healthy competition within San Antonio’s local business community. Amid global uncertainty and local challenges, businesses like Smoke Skybar provide jobs, entertain residents, attract tourists, and boost the economy. With its upcoming renovation fully activated, Smoke Skybar is all set to contribute further to San Antonio’s wearing nightlife while standing as a testament to the city’s resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.
Looking towards the future, it’s clear that San Antonio’s hospitality industry continues to thrive with establishments like Smoke Skybar leading the charge, providing a memorable and fulfilling experience for everyone who steps through their doors. Whether the night calls for a succulent barbecue, a cocktail under the stars, or dancing the night away to fantastic music, Smoke Skybar’s upcoming nightclub and mezzanine areas are sure to provide an unforgettable evening.
