San Antonio Band Fancy and the Fortunate Sons to Drop Debut Album

San Antonio is buzzing with excitement as the local country band, Fancy and the Fortunate Sons, prepares to release their highly anticipated debut album, Bad Habits & a Broken Heart, on Friday, September 6. The album promises to offer listeners a glimpse into the personal struggles and resilience of the band’s frontwoman, Reanna Galicia, who goes by the stage name Fancy.

Album Themes and Inspirations

The new album, a compilation of heart-wrenching ballads and upbeat tracks, is inspired by Galicia’s own life experiences. “The whole album is based on struggle, whether it be my past substance abuse, life struggles or hustling like crazy to take care of my kids,” she explains. This raw storytelling resonates deeply through songs like “Pusher,” where the fast-paced beat mirrors the anxiety of living on the edge of legality.

Musical Influences and Collaborations

Galicia has spent the past couple of years making a name for herself at local open mic nights, impressing audiences with her powerful voice reminiscent of Reba McIntyre and the legendary Patsy Cline. Her journey culminated in assembling the backing band, the Fortunate Sons, and together, they aim to bridge the worlds of Chicano and country music.

Encouraging support from local musicians has enriched their journey, culminating in a collaboration with Little Henry Lee of the Laveers, who will join them for their album release party.

Celebration at Jaime’s Place

The release party will take place at Jaime’s Place, an outdoor venue adjacent to the studio where the album was recorded. The event, set for September 6, will include sets from local artists, masters of ceremony Rodawg and Johnie War, as well as DJ Cami. Attendees can also enjoy delicious smashed burgers from Burger Foos while celebrating the launch of a new San Antonio music sensation.

A Cultural Tribute

Rooted deeply in the San Antonio spirit, Fancy’s music is a tapestry of her upbringing and cultural influences. Galicia reflects on this connection, stating, “Although we think of Sunny Ozuna first when we think West Side Sound, I think Doug Sahm. And what I’m trying to do is keep the San Antonio spirit alive through my own kind of sound.”

Mark Your Calendar

Don’t miss the chance to support local music and part of San Antonio’s vibrant community as Fancy and the Fortunate Sons debut their album on September 6. This event not only celebrates their hard work and creativity but also highlights the unique blend of stories and sounds that make up San Antonio’s rich musical heritage.
