SAN ANTONIO – Teachers at the South San Antonio Independent School District (ISD) celebrated a sudden windfall last week, as the district was awarded over $1 million through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). The program, implemented by the Texas Education Agency, recognizes and celebrates academically exemplary teachers for their outstanding performance, dedication, and unique contributions to the field of education.
The TIA, established by the Texas Education Agency, aims to identify, reward, and retain exceptional educators within Texas. Teachers recognized through the program are classified into three designations: Recognised, Exemplary, or Master. Depending on these designations, along with factors such as the rural status and overall income of the campus, the teachers receive varying payout amounts.
Ninety-one deserving teachers from the South San Antonio ISD received a delightful surprise last week as they were handed their rewards by district officials. The rewards came as recognition of their extraordinary efforts towards educating their students and contributing to the creation of a strong learning environment. Superintendent Yzaguirre, who was present during the announcement, thanked the teachers for their efforts and dedication.
“You are doing incredible, important work and you deserve to be recognized for it,” Yzaguirre said. “Thank you for continuing to choose South San Antonio ISD.”
The teachers’ reactions were a delightful mix of surprise, gratitude, and overwhelming pride in their work. Their shared commitment to the education of their students and the betterment of the South San Antonio ISD community was heartwarming to witness.
