South Texas, get ready to bundle up! A significant shift in the weather is heading our way, and many of us are about to feel the cold for the first time this fall. After a quick visit from a cool front midweek, temperatures are set to dip, providing a refreshing change from the usual warmth we’ve been enjoying.
On Friday morning, expect temperatures to take a nosedive with most areas dipping into the 40s. The San Antonio metro area is looking at chilly conditions, starting the day in the low 50s between 5 and 7:30 a.m. But don’t let that fend you off; it’s going to be a beautiful day ahead! Just outside the city, things get even colder. From New Braunfels to San Marcos along the Interstate 35 corridor, we’ll see temperatures in the upper 40s to start.
If you’re in the Hill Country—think towns like Boerne, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg—you might be waking up to the mid-40s! Brr! While it might feel brisk in the morning, there’s a silver lining: with sunny skies and very dry air, temperatures are expected to warm up quickly as the day progresses.
By mid-morning, San Antonio will be basking in the low 70s. Come afternoon, we could see highs reaching into the middle to upper 70s. Although this is still slightly above average, it’s an excellent opportunity to enjoy some quality time outdoors. Just don’t forget your jacket in the morning!
As we move from Thursday into Friday, the air will get colder. Friday morning lows are expected to dip about 5 degrees cooler than Thursday, with San Antonio cooling into the mid to upper 40s. The Hill Country? Brace yourselves; some spots could even flirt with the upper 30s. Let’s be honest, it’s quite the change from the warm weather we’ve been used to!
Looking ahead to the rest of the weekend, Saturday promises to be nice and calm. Morning temperatures will be a bit milder, hanging out in the mid-50s, and later rising into the low 80s—that’s where we like it! With sunny skies and a light breeze, it’s shaping up to be a lovely day.
However, Sunday brings a little twist. The morning will greet us with mid-60s, and as the clouds creep in, so does the chance of rain. Expect the temperatures to max out in the low to mid-80s. But hold on, because by Sunday night, it looks like rain is on the horizon!
With a storm system approaching from the west, we could see some action early on Monday, with rain chances peaking around 50%. Keep an eye out for possible strong storms as temperatures take a tumble, settling down into the upper 70s by day’s end.
It seems this pattern isn’t going to let up! A more potent cold front will surge through South Texas late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. This front promises to create an even sharper drop in temperatures. Get ready for lows in the upper 40s in San Antonio and high temps struggling to make it out of the 60s on Wednesday. The 50s may even be where we’re at by next Thursday! And yes, we could see our first freeze of the year over in the Hill Country.
So, South Texas, it’s time to pull out those cozy sweaters and enjoy this beautiful fall weather! Stay warm!
