San Antonio – September 5, 2024 – With Halloween around the corner, haunted houses in San Antonio are gearing up to welcome thrill-seekers and fans of all things spooky. Offering a chilling array of frights, these haunted attractions promise a truly hair-raising experience. Below is a list of some of the most popular haunted houses in the city.
The 13th Floor Haunted House, renowned worldwide, is marking its 15th year of spine-chilling thrills. This year features a couple of new intimidating themes – Dead Again, a dystopian spectacle of a violently infectious virus-zombie apocalypse, and The Grymm, a mind-bending reinterpretation of beloved fairytales gone scary. The 13th Floor’s reputation as one of the most terrifying haunted houses in the U.S is further reinforced this year, according to a recent USA Today ranking.
The Fright Fest at Six Flags Fiesta Texas returns from September 7 through to November 3. Making their first-ever appearances are the immersive horror experiences from Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and Warner Bros. Discovery’s “The Conjuring Universe.” Fans can get set to tour the hair-raising cases that inspired terrifying hits like “The Conjuring,” “Annabelle,” and “The Nun.” The theme park is bringing back its six haunted houses and six highly themed scare zones for the Halloween season alongside daily low-scare festivities at Kids Boo Fest and Oktoberfest.
Back again to fuel your nightmares, Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld boasts of six terrifying haunts and eight “Terror-tories” from September 13 until October 27. The park warns you to watch out for centuries-old vampires, revolting robots, sinister sorcerers, and other monsters that lurk after dark. One of the new terror-stories, “Till Death Do Us Party” promises to be a chilling ride where the party continues… even into the afterlife.
Not your average haunted house, the Terrorland Haunted Adventure is a haunted hayride on a hillside trail on the Southeast side of San Antonio. Running from September 27 to November 2, you can expect frightful faces hiding behind every tree during this year’s “Expedition Terror.” Be sure to steer clear of scratches from the sinister creatures lurking about – a single scrape could spell doom!
For those seeking an extra dose of fear, the city’s most haunted locations are a must-visit. Ghost City tours treat visitors with accounts of hauntings at the Alamo, haunted hotels, the Spanish Governor’s Palace, the San Fernando Cathedral, and the haunted railroad tracks of San Antonio.
