San Antonio Turns Into ‘Stranger Things’ for Halloween
San Antonio is getting an exciting treat this Halloween! One local artist has transformed her backyard into a spectacular scene right out of Netflix’s spooky hit, Stranger Things. Tess Weaver, 40, has taken the festive spirit to a whole new level, bringing the Upside Down to life with a display featuring massive demogorgons, eerie vecna, and a gigantic Mind Flayer that greets walking visitors from over her garage. Now, that’s what we call embracing the Halloween spirit!
A Creative Journey
It all started back in 2018 when Tess threw her daughter a birthday party with a Stranger Things theme. What began as a fun initiative for her family has now blossomed into a labor of love that has captivated the attention of the neighborhood. With her first project being a seven-foot tall demogorgon, Tess has skillfully crafted this enchanting world, slowly expanding her collection to include not just one, but two gigantic demogorgons and a couple of demogorgon dogs, showcasing her impressive DIY skills.
Meet the Cast of Characters
Visitors are in for a treat, as the backyard features a thrilling cast of characters from the series. Alongside the towering demogorgons, you can find the ominous Vecna, a humanoid monster that has become a favorite among fans, and Castle Byers, the iconic fort that the kids used for their adventures in Hawkins. And let’s not forget the eye-catching giant Mind Flayer—a wonderfully goopy, tentacle-filled creature that adds an extra layer of creepy-cool to the atmosphere.
Open for All
From October 31 to November 2, Tess is opening her backyard free of charge to anyone in the community who wants to come visit. Guests can come by between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. and experience the magical vibe of the Upside Down without the scary jump scares. Tess wants everyone to enjoy this Halloween experience and just asks her visitors to be respectful of her neighbors’ properties and driveways while they explore.
A Sweet Halloween Surprise
As an added bonus, on Halloween night, Tess will also be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters who come to enjoy her fantastic decorations. It’s a wonderful way to blend Halloween fun with a beloved show that millions adore, making it a memorable night for families.
