Weather can sure be a rollercoaster! Here in San Antonio, we took a little detour into fall, but summer is quickly regaining its footing. Get ready, because we’re in for a ride with afternoon highs soaring back into the mid to upper 90s. Yes, you heard it right – it seems those cozy fall vibes have retreated, leaving us to sweat it out!
This Friday, we’re looking at a record-setting day. The high is predicted to hit around 99°F, just a degree or two shy of the record! Make sure you’re prepared with plenty of water and a shady spot to escape the heat. The heat index is set to hover around 100°F, meaning it could feel even hotter! It’s a classic South Texas summer day, to say the least.
Now, if you were hoping for some relief from all that sunshine, you might want to hold your horses. The forecast holds meager rain chances of about 10%-20%, mainly on Sunday and into next week. That moisture rolling in from the Pacific seems to be more interested in putting on a show with clouds than actually giving us any rain. Most of us will likely just see some clouds floating high above. So, keep those umbrellas at the back of your closet for now!
On a more serious note, the weather hasn’t been all sunshine and smiles. Over along the Central Louisiana Coast, Hurricane Francine made landfall this afternoon, packing a punch with wind gusts measuring up to 105 mph on Eugene Island. This hurricane is now weakening but is expected to push some rain northward towards states like Mississippi and Tennessee. It’s a reminder of how quickly weather can change and how powerful it can be.
Our team of meteorologists is always keeping a watchful eye on the skies. Whether through a storm or sunny weather, rest assured we’re here to keep you informed. From taking a ride in the KSAT Storm Chaser during severe weather to sharing useful tips on how to prepare for all sorts of conditions, the goal is to make sure you and your family stay safe while enjoying this vibrant weather. That said, who can resist a good old-fashioned Texas history story while we’re at it?
It’s all hands on deck with our dedicated team. We have familiar faces like Meteorologist Mia Montgomery, originally from Floresville, who returned home to team up with us in September 2022. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her previous work in Bryan-College Station.
And let’s not forget about Meteorologist Adam Caskey, who is also on the case, keeping you updated on what to expect in our ever-changing weather patterns. Our commitment lies in delivering accurate and timely forecasts to help you plan your week and enjoy what our beautiful San Antonio has to offer!
As we shift back into summer, make sure you’re equipped to handle those high temperatures. Drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and keep an eye on that heat index. With a little bit of luck, we may catch a few raindrops, but don’t count on it just yet. Stay tuned, stay engaged, and most importantly, stay cool!
