Residents here in Austin are shaking their heads at a troubling story unfolding nearby in San Antonio. A young woman, just 17 years old, has found her way onto the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List, and it’s stirring quite a buzz. The focal point of this scenario is the unfortunate and tragic shooting of a Sonic Drive-In manager, Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury, who was just doing his job.
Adiah Namir Roberson is the name making headlines, and unfortunately, not for the right reasons. It seems she has been on the run since the fateful day of July 7, when violence erupted at a Sonic Drive-In located at 5510 Babcock Rd.. Reports are surfacing that Roberson attempted to pay for food using counterfeit money and ended up taking additional cash from an employee. When Shrewsbury confronted her and attempted to photograph her vehicle’s license plate, things took a dark turn.
It’s reported that Adiah was not alone at the time; a man named Joshua Joseph was with her. When Shrewsbury confronted them, Joseph allegedly threatened to assault him and warned that he was going to get shot. Before anyone could react, Roberson exited the vehicle and fired a shot, fatally wounding Shrewsbury. The shocking speed at which these events unfolded has left many in the community stunned.
Joseph didn’t escape the consequences either; he was taken into police custody on August 16 and faces serious murder charges. Meanwhile, Roberson remains at large, and the police are eager to get any information that could lead to her arrest.
Local authorities, along with Texas Crime Stoppers, are hoping the community can help them track down Roberson. They are offering a cash reward of up to $10,000—that’s $5,000 from Crime Stoppers of Texas and another $5,000 from Crime Stoppers of San Antonio. It’s a significant amount, and the police want to remind everyone that any tips can be given anonymously. They assure that people can provide information without fear, as all tips will be treated confidentially.
For those who might come across Roberson, she is described as being around 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds. With distinct facial piercings, including ones on her nose, upper and lower lips, and even an eyebrow, she would stand out. Her age and appearance make her an unusually young fugitive, and it underscores the startling events that led to this moment.
If you have any information that could assist in locating this young woman, the police are urging you to step forward. To be eligible for the cash rewards, you can submit your tips through one of three secure methods detailed by the Crime Stoppers. Remember, your identity will remain anonymous throughout the process, and you will receive a tip number instead of a name. This way, you can feel safe while contributing to the safety of the community.
This situation is a harsh reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, leaving behind tragedies that impact families and communities. We sincerely hope that the needed information comes in soon, allowing justice to prevail and bringing some closure to the family of Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury.
