Texas, a 12-Year-Old Arrested After Making School Shooting Threat

San Antonio, Texas: A 12-year-old boy has been taken into police custody after reportedly threatening to shoot up a school. The police discovered a gun among other related materials from the minor’s residence, resulting in another alarming incident about youth violence this week.

Threat Reported by a Fellow Student

A student of Gregory Luna Middle School had reportedly threatened to shoot a fellow schoolmate during a FaceTime call on September 7. He also claimed to do a campus shooting, allegedly displaying images of firearms during the video call. The information was forwarded to local law enforcement by the Northside Independent School District staff after the victim reported the threat, ignition an immediate investigation process.

It’s crucial that parents talk to their children about the serious ramifications of making threats,” stated the Bexar County Sheriff during a recent news conference. “

Arrest and Discovery of Fire Arms

Post the alarming threat reported, an arrest warrant was immediately issued for the child on a terroristic threat charge causing public fear. The arrest was successfully made on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the shocking discovery of a .380 pistol with an extended magazine, ammunition, two fake guns, and two sets of body armor plates from the minor’s residence located in west Bexar County.

The boy was subsequently processed into the Juvenile Detention Center in Bexar County on a felony count of terroristic threats. As of now, it’s unclear whether the child has been released on bond or not.

Recent Surge in School Threats

This arrest marks the second incident involving a twelve-year-old threatening school violence in the Greater San Antonio area this week alone. On the very same day, another threat surfaced in Southside Independent School District. Although this threat was later categorized as non-credible, the law enforcement departments involved took no risks in their investigation.

Please understand that such threats are never taken lightly,” emphasized the Southside ISD Superintendent in a recent statement. “The safety and security of our students and staff is our main priority.”

The severity of these incidents underlines a concerning trend of increase in school threats across the state. With the escalated number of juvenile violence incidents, it calls for an urgent need for awareness among parents and society regarding the seriousness of such threats.
