In the early hours of Sunday, around midnight, a tragic accident occurred on the South Side of San Antonio when a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian. The incident took place at the busy intersection of Southwest Military Drive and South Flores Street.
Witnesses reported seeing the pedestrian standing in the roadway for an unknown reason moments before the collision. A westbound Chevrolet Silverado traveling along Southwest Military Drive struck the individual, leading to the unfortunate outcome.
After the collision, the driver of the Silverado immediately stopped, remained at the scene, and cooperated fully with the authorities. According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the driver was tested for intoxication and was found to be not impaired.
Emergency responders arrived but sadly pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working on identifying the pedestrian. Fortunately, the driver will not face any charges, as confirmed by SAPD officials.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety and the unpredictable nature of roadways. The community is in mourning as the investigation continues.
