San Antonio has been shaken by a heartbreaking incident that took place recently at an apartment complex on the city’s North Side. In a situation that many are calling a murder-suicide, two individuals were found dead, prompting an investigation by local authorities that has left the community in shock.
On the morning of September 15, around 9 a.m., police officers conducted a routine welfare check at an apartment located in the 7900 block of Jones Maltsberger Road. They had received reports that raised concerns about a male suspect potentially being inside. However, upon arrival, they discovered that the man was not in the apartment they initially visited.
Officers quickly traced the suspect to another location, specifically an apartment in the 1800 block of East Sonterra Boulevard. After knocking on the door, they were met with silence, leading them to call for a SWAT unit for further assistance.
After several hours of trying to communicate with the individual inside, authorities made the difficult decision to enter the apartment. What they discovered was deeply troubling: inside, they found both the suspect and a young woman dead. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has since identified the suspect as Tevin Hall, a 30-year-old man, who tragically died from a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities have ruled his manner of death a suicide.
Sadly, a woman’s body was also discovered in the same apartment. As of now, authorities have not released her identity while they work to confirm the details of this tragic event. It’s also worth noting that police believe Hall shot the woman before taking his own life, although further details regarding their relationship are still under investigation.
This incident has left the local community both perplexed and saddened. Residents in the area expressed their shock at the events that transpired so close to home. The loss of life in such a violent manner raises awareness about mental health issues and the growing concern of domestic violence. It’s a tragic reminder that many individuals may be suffering in silence.
Authorities are reminding everyone of the importance of seeking help. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues or having thoughts of suicide, there are resources available. You can call 988 or text TALK to 741-741. There are also organizations like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the National Alliance of Mental Illness that offer help and support.
As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of these two young lives. Everyone involved hopes that sharing this story will prompt conversations about mental health and the conversations that need to happen surrounding relationships, love, and emotional well-being. Let’s all keep an eye out for those who may be struggling, whether we know them personally or not.
We will continue to follow this story as new information emerges, in hopes of shedding more light on what happened in that apartment and to underline the importance of mental health support.
Remember, no one is alone in their struggles, and help is always just a call or text away. Stay safe, San Antonio.
