Tragic Shooting in San Antonio Claims Life of 4-Year-Old, Investigators Recover Weapon and Pursue Leads

Tragic Shooting Case in San Antonio: New Developments Unfold

San Antonio, a city known for its vibrant culture and warm community, is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of a young life. On May 8, a tragic shooting left 4-year-old Maryann Marble dead and four others severely injured, including two children under the age of 10. As details continue to emerge about this violent crime, a glimmer of hope for justice is beginning to take shape.

Details of the Incident

The shooting occurred at a family home located in the 6700 block of Windsor Hollow Drive on the Northeast Side of San Antonio. According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, two masked men armed with semi-automatic long rifles indiscriminately fired over 25 rounds into the home, which was occupied by two adults and three children. This was reported as a targeted attack, and the shockwaves of this event continue to haunt the local community.

Discovery of the Weapon

In a significant development, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed in a press conference that investigators recovered a gun at Calaveras Lake, which is believed to be directly linked to the shooting. Sheriff Salazar explained that the gun was allegedly discarded there only hours after the horrific event.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office scuba dive teams, the weapon, described as a short-barrel AK-47-style gun (commonly known as a draco), was located through a clever “low-tech throw test” conducted to estimate where a firearm of similar size could land if thrown into the lake.

“It’s very similar to the weapons that were used in the shooting of Maryann Marble,” Sheriff Salazar stated, indicating the importance of this discovery. The recovered gun will now undergo testing for any potential evidence that could provide more clues about the tragic incident.

Search for Persons of Interest

As authorities continue to pursue justice for little Maryann, they are also focused on several persons of interest connected to the case. Recently, it was revealed that two individuals—19-year-old Bryan Salazar and 20-year-old Isaiah Perales—were arrested in connection with an auto-theft crime ring and could potentially be linked to the tragic shooting. Both have since been released on bond.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office is searching for another individual, 18-year-old Ashton Vara Garcia, who may also have connections to both the auto thefts and the fatal shooting of Maryann.

Although it remains unclear why these individuals are considered persons of interest, Sheriff Salazar has indicated that digital evidence suggests their possible involvement in this heinous crime.

Call for Cooperation

In a heartfelt plea, Sheriff Salazar urged these individuals to come forward and speak with investigators. “This homicide of this little girl is a horrible thing and it’s always at the forefront of what we are doing. We’re not going to stop until someone faces justice for this,” he asserted.

The sheriff’s emphasis on dialogue reflects the community’s desire to find closure over this tragic loss. The emotional weight of this situation is heavy, and the search for answers only reinforces the shared grief felt across San Antonio.

A Community in Mourning

For a city that prides itself on its sense of community and care, the loss of Maryann Marble is felt deeply. As the investigation continues, neighbors, family, and friends are left to pick up the pieces and advocate for justice on behalf of a young girl whose life was so cruelly snatched away.

In moments like these, it becomes clear that the strength of a community is tested. San Antonio stands together, hoping for healing and justice as they remember a bright young girl who brought joy to all who knew her.
